I have been taking guitar lessons from Elizabeth for about two years now, after playing and studying music for years. Elizabeth is able to motivate me into always wanting to improve technique and keep pushing me to the next level. In addition, she provides feedback during the lesson and afterwards by utilizing an app, (Notion) in which I can refer back from days--months after a lesson. Overall, I can see progress in my playing and others have said the same. I highly recommend Elizabeth if you are a beginner or as an advanced guitar player.
I have been taking pedal steel lessons from Elizabeth almost 6 months, she is very very good at what she does. I have grown so much as a musician I can’t really believe it!
Elizabeth has this ability to know just where to go next and push when I need pushing! I have learned so much about theory and how to apply it to my instrument.
I highly recommend checking out Elizabeth if you want an honest hard working teacher that genuinely cares about you and your progress!
Serendipity- the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way...
I decided at age 55 (8 yrs ago) to learn the pedal steel. It was kind of a silly notion with no practical purpose but, WTH. I’d always wanted to. So, I started cheap on eBay. In the years since, I’ve learned how they work, torn them apart, put them back together, upgraded them, set them up, made them tunable, met and bought guitars from Jerry Fessenden, and experienced quite a bit of “serendipity”...but, frankly, I still couldn’t play the damned thing. And then, in the best bit of serendipity yet, through an online search I came across Root Note Studios and Elizabeth Day! She taught from Nashville by SKYPE for God’s sake. Where was she and this technology miracle when I was 18?!?
Within 2 months now I’ve made more musical progress on this mechanical twang machine than the previous 8 years. The Skype thing has absolutely worked for me. There is now a plan, a coach. I can play a whole recognizable song. Liz puts in the work. She listens. She pushes. But even through Skype she’s one of those persons you feel you’ve known a long time within the first few lessons.
So here I am, finally learning pedal steel. Thanks to serendipity and Elizabeth Day. I highly recommend her and the magic of Skype! 🍻 Quit procrastinating!
What can I say about Elizabeth? She is simply an incredible teacher and a really genuine person! I'm an intermediate to advanced guitar player so I can assure you that she has something to offer any guitar player looking to improve their skills. She doesn't just show you how to play a scale or exercise one way; she shows you how to play it forwards, backwards, upside-down, inside-out and every permutation you can think of all while playing them in time! She also dives into the mental aspects of playing guitar making the concepts easier to comprehend. I've been lucky to have studied with many great guitar teachers in my time, but I truly believe that I've had the most significant improvement with her. She can make anyone into a better guitar player!

I was one of those guys that could play a little but could never quite get over the hump. I thought if I could just get that “one thing,” I'd be ok. I've got enough instruction books and DVD's to start a music store.
I decided I'd start taking online lessons and took quite a few from different people before I found Elizabeth. She's given me a structured, step by step approach, and I realized what the "one thing" I was missing was a solid foundation.
There's no quick, easy shortcut. But I'm now on a path to become a competent guitarist. The lessons are organized, fun, and you get a lot in an hour. I can't recommend her enough. She is Fantastic!!!

I have been a student of Elizabeth's since 2014. With no previous music theory knowledge or being able to play an instrument. I have been very fortunate and thankful to have had in person lessons with her, but the majority of my lessons are via Skype and feel that they are just as engaging.
Over the past 5 years I have learned how to not only play the Acoustic guitar but I now have an understanding of the “language” of music. Music has always played an important role in my life that stemmed from my enjoyment of listening but I never imagined I could contribute by actually being able to create it on my own. The knowledge that Liz has given me is immense. She shares her personal experiences and is willing to offer resources to help with my learning path. She has taught me how to be patient with myself and how to challenge myself to make it to the next level of learning. There is always going to be a higher level!
If you are thinking of becoming a student of hers, think no more.. this is it. You found her, just like I did!
My son and I have been taking guitar lessons from Elizabeth for a couple of years. She knows her stuff, but more importantly, she can 'relay' that knowledge to her students .... regardless of skill level. For example, my son is way more advanced in his playing than I am, but Elizabeth can easily adjust her teaching skill/level to each of us. She has that rare skill that coaches need to have .... being able to push a student to (or beyond) their ability, but being patient enough to work with them, until they get there.
I would highly recommend taking lessons from Elizabeth!
I've been taking lessons from teacher Elizabeth for a couple of years now but I've also had the chance to meet and play with all the other teachers as well. These are wonderful people dedicated to helping you discover or improve your inner musician. I've gone from complete beginner to being able to play and lead songs in the group jam sessions under their tutelage. It's been a great journey and I could not have asked for better inspiration and guidance. I'd give more stars if it was an option.

Creative musical life support: I am extremely pleased with the progress I have made thusfar. Elizabeth's method of teaching has taught me so much more than I would have expected to learn in the short amount of time that I have been involved so far. I am looking forward to a long and productive musical journey with Elizabeth and I'm confident that my talents, with her help, will improve beyond what I have imagined to achieve on my own through many years of unproductive struggle.
I have never been asked to work on these specific drills. I finally see endless possibilities with even just this info. And I know this hasn't even scratched the surface. I always knew it was there, just wasn't finding a way to get there...
Elizabeth is an amazing guitar instructor! She provides personalized attention, great patience and knows when I need a challenge. Her incredible knowledge has helped me to understand the language of music. I am so grateful to have begun my journey of learning how to play acoustic guitar with her and look forward to making her proud as I continue to grow as a musician.
I became interested in learning to play Pedal Steel Guitar about 5 years ago. I had three teachers over the years in the Los Angeles area. The problem was hauling this 70lb monster around to lessons. Big pain. I heard about lessons via Skype and began searching for a teacher. Serendipitously, I found Elizabeth. I think I have been taking lessons from her for about 1 & 1/2 years now. She is awesome; she truly cares for her students and their progress. She is patient, easy going, and fun to work with. I would highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone who is interested in learning to play.
It’s one thing to have talent. It’s another thing to know how to teach. With Elizabeth, you get both. The talent to inspire you, and the ability to show you how. I’m an intermediate strummer who finally decided to take some lessons. Glad I did.
We weren’t sure if our daughter was too young to start lessons, but we really wanted her to start on an instrument. Elizabeth is great with Morgan! We all look forward to the lessons and I am amazed at how quickly Morgan is picking it up. The lessons are fun and age appropriate, and Elizabeth always listens to Morgan and lets her have input on what she plays.
Elizabeth is by far the best guitar teacher I've had the joy to work with. She makes beginning guitar exciting and fun to learn. Can hardly wait for my next lesson. Take my word, look no further for a teacher.
Absolutely the BEST teacher going ! Have had the privilege of two years of lessons with Elizabeth, and after having "played at" guitar for 50 plus years, she has taken me places I could not imagine. Check her out if you've ever considered taking your playing to another level!!!
